Where are the Democrats? And what are they doing?
Hello?
We’ve been in the streets.
We’ve been making the calls.
We’ve been fighting like hell to protect our rights.
So… where are the Democrats?
Because while the far-right burns books, bans history, targets trans kids, and wages war on reproductive rights, many of us are looking around and wondering:
Where’s the full-throated, fight-like-your-rights-depend-on-it energy from the people who are supposed to defend us?
Yes, Some Are Showing Up
Let’s give credit where it’s due: folks like Bernie Sanders, AOC, Ayanna Pressley, Cori Bush, Katie Porter, and a handful of others are on the front lines. They’re introducing bold legislation, showing up at protests, rallying communities, and calling out corporate greed, corruption, and cruelty.
But where’s the party-wide urgency?
Where’s the unified, unapologetic, relentless response to authoritarianism?
We don’t need lukewarm press statements.
We don’t need “both sides” nonsense.
We need leaders who understand we are in a fight for our democracy—and act like it.
What Should Democrats Be Doing Right Now?
Here’s a list. (And we’ll keep adding to it until they get the message.)
- Stop playing defense. Start playing offense.
- We’ve had enough of “preserving norms” while the other side sets everything on fire. Fight back with actual policies and passion.
- Use the bully pulpit like you mean it.
- Hold press conferences. Use social media. Speak directly to the people, because if you're silent, the void gets filled with lies.
- Show up at protests.
- Be where your constituents are. If we're marching in the streets, you better be marching with us—or explaining why you’re not.
- Call out extremism for what it is.
- No more dancing around fascism. If someone is pushing racist, sexist, anti-LGBTQ, anti-democratic policy, say so. Loudly.
- Fight for bold policies—not just what's “possible.”
- We don’t win hearts (or elections) by offering watered-down versions of justice. We win by showing we stand for something real.
- Defend the people under attack.
- Trans kids. Immigrants. Teachers. Women. Black and brown communities. If you’re not protecting the most vulnerable, you’re not leading.
And What Can We Do About It?
✅ Hold them accountable. Email. Call. Post. Show up at their offices. Let them know that silence is complicity—and we’re watching.
✅ Support bold candidates. Especially in primaries. Let’s uplift the people who don’t just “vote the right way” but fight the right way.
✅ Keep organizing. No one’s coming to save us unless we demand it. So let’s keep building power from the ground up.
✅ Refuse to settle. We deserve leaders who fight like hell. Let’s stop rewarding the ones who don’t.
We’re not here to burn bridges—we’re here to build a movement.
But if the people on our side aren’t moving, we’ll find someone who will.
Because this moment calls for more than statements and safe votes.
It calls for courage, clarity, and action. And if the Democrats want to lead the resistance, it’s time they start acting like it.
The resistance isn’t waiting. The question is—are you coming with us?
